I’m fairly new to painting on walls, but I must say I enjoy it.
Wall Art can work on a number of levels, from pure Tromp l’oeil to more decorative arrangements, abstract, floral, antiquarian, surreal or fantasy.
Hand painted bespoke wall decorations are a viable option to wallpapers and stencils and not much more expensive. I can incorporate paint effects including marbling, wood graining, old stone and brickwork.
Apart from the grown-up stuff I can also do children’s rooms. This is becoming increasingly popular now and a customized environment helps stimulate the kids’ imaginations and maybe even keep them busy. A mural can be educational as well as being fun and they can relate to the books, TV or films that they like. There favorite characters can be blended easily into fantasy landscapes with rainbows, trees or seaside backdrops.
As always I like to produce sketches first, incorporating you or your child’s ideas.
Prices start at around £200 for a one-day project. This could be a simple scene with a couple of characters for a child’s room. Adult murals are usually more sophisticated. The Roman columns would take a day apiece, hence about £350. The stone arch window took four days and is highly detailed and would cost about £600. The pub train mural came in at around £1000. and took three weeks. The larger the commission, the more flexible I can be on price
